Here is a quick and easy recipe for homemade play dough. It's non-toxic and you can make any color you want! You don't have to buy it all the time or put up with the smell. Ok, the smell reminds some of us of childhood but does anyone really like it? Fun fact, did you know they patented the smell?? š§
Ingredients:
2 ½ cups water
1 ¼ cups salt
1 ½ tablespoons cream of tartar
5 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 ½ cups flour
food coloring
1. Mix everything but the food coloring in a large pot. It will be a little lumpy but will smooth out.
2. Cook over a low heat, mixing the entire time. It will start to resemble dough, keep mixing until the water has disappeared and it feels like play dough. Remove from heat and allow to cool enough to touch.
3. Place the dough on the counter (or a board that won't absorb food coloring) and knead until itās smooth.
4. Divide into 4 or 5 sections, add color and continue to knead until it's all incorporated.
5. You can store the dough in a ziplock bag for a few months. (Unless your dog eats it, see photo below. LOL!)
Here's my guy loving every minute of his homemade play dough. And yes, my dog really did eat some. Don't worry, she is fine.

This is awesome. My son would love this.
