I love to go to restaurants to see what's on the cocktail menu. After sampling, I go home and try to make my own version. This is less expensive than always drinking at a bar. I recently had a drink at a local restaurant and I couldn't wait to make it! This drink reminds me a little of a Negroni. It's great for sipping by the fire, ending your day after the kids go to bed...this is something I do a lot! I made this with a bourbon barrel gin I got for Christmas from Captive Spirits. It's a little spicy and dark, perfect pairing with the black walnut bitters. Be careful, it's boozy but so smooth and delicious it's easy to drink quickly!
Here's what you need:
The Walnut Social Cocktail
2 oz. Gin ( Barrel-Aged Gin or Old Tom recommended)
1 oz. Cardamaro Amaro
3-4 dashes Black Walnut Bitters
Orange peel garnish (for aromatics and style)
This cocktail should be stirred and not shaken and served on a large rock. I use my vegetable peeler to get my orange peel perfect with no pith. Twist the peel and rub on the rim of your glass and then add on top of the cube. The aroma adds to the depth of the drink. \
Cheers! 🥃
