Egg Yolk Doggy Treat

If you bake a lot, or make cocktails with egg whites (I do both), and have a dog, I have a quick and easy treat you can make with those egg yolks.

First, you need this tool shown below. You can get it on Amazon and it now comes in cool colors like this purple one HERE. I got mine from my parents, who I'm pretty sure purchased or were gifted it in the 70's. There is something to be said for a brilliant design! I use this tool all the time and it never fails me.

All you have to do is break the egg shell and the tool does the rest!

After you have separated the yolk, you most likely only need one or the other depending on your recipe. I use a lot of egg whites for cocktails and baking like I said, and I hate to waste food.

Since I have a Lab who loves to eat, I take my extra yolks, give them a quick scramble and put them in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl to make a quick and easy dog treat. Eggs are a great source of vitamins, and my dog love them. Of course, always check with your vet to make sure it's ok for your furry friend.

If your recipes calls for yolks, you can make a nice fluffy egg white treat instead. And yes, you can do this in the microwave. 2 yolks take about 30 seconds in my microwave.

What else can I do with the yolk?

1. Freeze them! Yup, you can freeze them for up to a year.

3. Make Hollandaise sauce

4. Make pudding
